Systematical Quick-Scan of Situations at the Workplaces

How can you effectively rate work situations systematically and without much effort? How can high-risk situations and actions be recognized in a simple way?

The Pro-Safety Check uses the 5 fingers of a hand as a "checklist" to evaluate specific situations. In order to identify almost all hazards in the workplace, each finger is assigned a topic that is easy to remember.

Of course, the Pro-Safety-Check does not replace a systematic risk assessment, but it offers some exceptional possibilities:

  • easy identification of hazards
  • “catching” employees in VALUABLE safe actions
  • Verification of the effectiveness or familiarization with the training content.

Pro-Safety-Check - Applications

The Pro-Safety Check is applicable in at least three possibilities:

  1. As part of the Pro-Safety Dialog or Pro-Safety Talk as a tool for observing employees in their work system (in any kind of "normal" task at work) in order to specifically "catch" employees in safe actions as well as to recognize and evaluate unsafe situations. The results of the Pro-Safety Check are then subsequently used in the Pro-Safety Dialog.

  2. For the Safety Awareness of Employees to stabilize their own responsibility as the next logical step after the introduction of behavior- based safety (e.g. using the Pro-Safety Dialog). This would fill or strengthen the "employee engagement" pillar of the Pro-Safety Culture House and the independent phase on the Bradley Curve. However, this step always follows steps towards behavior-based safety e.g. with the Pro- Safety Dialog.

  3. As a Last-Minute Risk Assessment for the evaluation of special situations by the executing employees before they start an unusual task. Applicable, for example, for maintenance or field assembly employees to develop an understanding of special hazards and to implement appropriate safety measures accordingly.

All three variations of the Pro-Safety Check help to develop safety in the workplace, to increase the safety awareness of all involved and to consequently prevent workplace accidents in advance.
